New Delhi, September 21, 2026: Tata Cars has released the first official teaser of its upcoming compact sedan, the Tata Aeris. The new model is expected to replace the Tigor in Tata's sedan lineup and will arrive with a redesigned exterior, updated features and familiar petrol and CNG powertrain options.

The teaser has also confirmed that the Tata Aeris will be launched in India on September 25, 2026. While Tata has not yet revealed all the details, the company is expected to announce the complete specifications, variants and pricing at the launch.

Tata Aeris Teaser Shows New Front Design

The first teaser offers a glimpse of the Aeris' front-end styling. The sedan appears to feature LED reflector headlamps with integrated DRLs, LED fog lamps and a gloss-black grille.

The most interesting visual detail is the possibility of a purple exterior colour. If offered on the production version, the shade could give the Aeris a distinctive appearance. Tata has used a similar colour theme on the Nexon in the past, although that option was eventually discontinued.

New Design Inspired By Tata's Latest Models

Although the Aeris is expected to retain the compact notchback proportions associated with the Tigor, Tata appears to have given the new sedan a substantially revised appearance.

The front section could feature a slimmer grille and a larger lower air intake, while the side profile is expected to get new alloy wheels and ‘Aeris’ badging near the lower section of the front doors.

At the rear, the sedan is expected to feature connected LED tail lamps, a redesigned boot lid and a new bumper. The overall treatment appears to share some design cues with the larger Tata Curvv.

Expected Features Inside The Cabin

Tata has not yet revealed the complete interior of the Aeris. However, the sedan could borrow elements from the updated Tiago, including its dashboard and steering wheel design.

Expected equipment could include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, a semi-digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, cruise control and electrically adjustable and auto-folding ORVMs.

Safety could also remain a key focus. The Aeris is expected to offer six airbags, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), Hill Hold Assist, a 360-degree camera, rear parking sensors and a tyre pressure monitoring system.

Petrol And CNG Engine Options

The upcoming sedan is expected to use a 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine, similar to the powertrain currently used in Tata's compact-car range.

The petrol version could produce around 86 PS and 113 Nm, while the CNG variant is expected to deliver approximately 76 PS and 97 Nm. Both versions could be offered with a 5-speed manual transmission and a 5-speed AMT.

Tata Aeris Launch Date, Expected Price And Rivals

The Tata Aeris is confirmed to make its India debut on September 25, 2026. The expected price range is around Rs 6 lakh to Rs 10 lakh (ex-showroom).

Once launched, the Aeris is expected to compete in the compact sedan segment against cars such as the Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Hyundai Aura and Honda Amaze.

With a fresh exterior design, updated technology, petrol and CNG options and a potential new purple colour, the Aeris will mark a significant refresh of Tata's compact sedan offering. The official price, variant lineup, bookings and delivery details are expected to be announced at the September 25 launch.
