Mumbai: Passengers travelling on the Shalimar–Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) Express (Train No. 18030) faced significant inconvenience after the train was shown running more than five hours behind schedule.
According to the train-running information available on September 28, the train was expected to reach Lokmanya Tilak Terminus at around 9:35 AM instead of its scheduled 4:20 AM arrival, indicating a delay of more than five hours.
For passengers, a long delay is not simply a matter of waiting at a railway station. It can affect connecting trains, office schedules, medical appointments, examinations and other important commitments. Many travellers may also have to make additional arrangements when a train arrives several hours late.
Passengers Raise Questions Over Railway Accountability
The delay has once again raised questions about passenger convenience and railway accountability. Travellers are asking why passengers who pay the full ticket fare should have to bear the consequences when a train is delayed for several hours.
Under applicable railway refund rules, passengers who do not undertake their journey because the train is more than three hours late at the boarding station may be eligible for a full refund, subject to the applicable conditions and TDR procedure.
Passengers Want Better Information and Reliable Services
For many travellers, the issue is not limited to a refund. Long delays can disrupt an entire day's schedule. Passengers want timely updates about train movements, clearer information about delays and better measures to reduce prolonged disruptions.
The latest delay has once again brought attention to the importance of railway punctuality and passenger services.
For passengers, the expectation is simple: when a ticket is purchased, they should receive reliable service and timely information about their journey.
