Reliance Shares Jump 6.7% as Sensex Surges Over 1,000 Points; Strong Q2 Results Lift Market Sentiment
Mumbai, November 2, 2026: Indian equity markets began the new trading week on a strong note on Monday, with benchmark indices Sensex and Nifty recording significant gains in early trade. Shares of Mukesh Ambani-led Reliance Industries emerged as a major driver of the rally after the company announced strong financial results for the July–September quarter of FY 2026–27.
The BSE Sensex surged by approximately 1,012 points to reach 75,471 during early trading, moving above the 75,000 mark. Meanwhile, the NSE Nifty 50 climbed 239 points to trade around 23,292.
The sharp movement reflected improved investor sentiment, supported by strong corporate earnings and positive market expectations.
Reliance Industries Leads the Market Rally
Reliance Industries was among the biggest contributors to Monday's market gains. The company's shares rose as much as 6.7 per cent to approximately ₹1,241 during the morning session, according to the market update published by Aaj Tak at 10:05 am.
The stock's performance helped lift the broader indices, making Reliance one of the most closely watched companies during the session.
Following the rally, Reliance Industries' market capitalisation reached approximately ₹16.77 lakh crore at the reported trading level.
Strong Quarterly Earnings Support Reliance Shares
The rise in Reliance shares followed the company's strong financial performance for the second quarter of FY27.
Reliance Industries reported consolidated revenue of ₹3.62 lakh crore, representing an increase of approximately 28 per cent compared with the corresponding quarter of the previous financial year.
Its EBITDA, which measures operating earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation, increased by 24 per cent to a record ₹62,409 crore.
The company's net profit also rose by approximately 34 per cent to ₹29,550 crore.
Growth across its oil-to-chemicals (O2C), digital services and retail operations contributed to the overall performance. The O2C business remained a particularly important contributor, benefiting from stronger refining and petrochemical margins.
Other Major Stocks Also Trade Higher
The positive momentum was not limited to Reliance Industries. Several large-cap stocks also recorded gains during early trading on Monday.
Among the notable performers were:
Tata Steel, up approximately 4 per cent
NTPC, up around 3.4 per cent
Maruti Suzuki, up approximately 2.8 per cent
Bharat Electronics (BEL), up around 2.4 per cent
Asian Paints, up approximately 2.1 per cent
In the mid-cap segment, Dixon Technologies, Phoenix Mills, Glenmark Pharmaceuticals, Hindustan Petroleum and Suzlon Energy also traded higher during the session.
These gains indicated broader buying interest across several sectors of the market.
What Is Driving Investor Confidence?
Strong quarterly earnings from major companies have played an important role in improving market sentiment.
Reliance's financial performance, particularly in its energy and digital businesses, strengthened investor interest in the company's shares. Positive assessments from brokerage firms following the results also contributed to the optimistic outlook.
However, stock prices can change quickly during market hours, and early gains do not guarantee that the indices or individual shares will maintain the same levels by the closing bell.
Market Outlook: Investors Watch Corporate Earnings
Monday's rally provided a positive start to the trading week, with Reliance Industries playing a significant role in supporting benchmark indices.
Investors will continue to monitor quarterly earnings, global economic developments, crude oil prices and institutional investment activity for further direction.
While the latest performance has strengthened short-term market sentiment, investors should evaluate company fundamentals, valuations and individual risk tolerance before making investment decisions.
The strong opening underlines the influence that heavyweight stocks such as Reliance Industries can have on India's broader equity market.
