Gondia News : A worrying road safety situation has emerged in Gondia district. In the past eight months, 124 people have lost their lives in 215 road accidents, while 114 others were seriously injured, bringing renewed attention to road safety across the district.
Several roads have deteriorated following heavy monsoon rains. In some areas, roads constructed just six months ago have reportedly suffered significant damage after the first spell of rain, raising questions about construction quality.
Roads and bridges in parts of Salekasa, Amgaon, Deori and Arjuni-Morgaon talukas are also reported to be in poor condition. Citizens are demanding regular structural audits of old and weakened bridges to ensure they remain safe for traffic.
Despite substantial funds being spent on road construction, the rapid deterioration of some roads has raised concerns about construction standards, maintenance and the utilization of public funds.
With 124 deaths recorded in eight months, attention is now focused on whether the administration will take concrete steps to repair dangerous roads, potholes and ageing bridges and improve road safety across Gondia district.
