GONDIA, Maharashtra: The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) conducted an inspection at a dairy in Dasgaon Khurd under Gondia tehsil and reportedly found irregularities involving milk and other dairy products.
The action was carried out on Friday after officials inspected the dairy premises and checked the quality and condition of various food products available there. During the inspection, officials recovered 20 litres of suspected adulterated milk, 18 kg of paneer, 90 kg of curd, 15 kg of cream and 2 kg of mawa.
According to information available from officials, the dairy operator did not have the required registration related to the purchase and sale of the dairy products. Following the inspection, the suspected adulterated material was destroyed on the spot by burying it on the premises.
Dairy Products Checked During FDA Inspection
The inspection team examined milk and other dairy products being handled at the establishment. The action focused on food safety and compliance with applicable requirements for the handling and sale of dairy products.
Milk and products prepared from milk, including paneer, curd, cream and mawa, are widely consumed. Officials therefore emphasized the importance of maintaining proper food hygiene, quality standards and required records at establishments dealing with such products.
The recovered material was disposed of at the site as part of the action taken during the inspection.
Food Safety Action at Sweet Shop in Gondia
In a separate inspection conducted by the Food and Drug Administration department, officials also found several hygiene-related issues at M/s Vaishali Rajpurohit Sweets in Bajpai Ward.
During the inspection, officials reportedly found an unhygienic environment at the establishment. The premises had a noticeable presence of flies and mosquitoes, while two dead flies were found in cooking oil.
Officials also found food-related material stored in rusty utensils. In addition, issues were reportedly identified regarding records related to the purchase of raw materials.
49 Kg Motichoor Laddus Destroyed
During the inspection of the sweet shop, officials found that artificial food colouring used in Motichoor laddus exceeded the prescribed limit.
Following the inspection, approximately 49 kg of Motichoor laddus were destroyed at the spot.
The establishment's licence was also suspended following the findings related to hygiene and food safety compliance.
Officials Present During the Action
The action at the dairy was carried out in the presence of Food and Drug Administration officials and other government representatives, including Food and Drug Administration Officer Amruta Shirke, Food Safety Officer Omkar Lanjewar, Assistant Police Inspector Abhay Chavan, Legal Metrology Inspector Sanjay Kamble and Dairy Superintendent Prashant Borse.
Police personnel Vaibhav Hajare, Mandal Officer Praveen Rokade, Patwari Nikesh Chavan, Vinay Taware, Sarpanch Bhaulaal Tumdam, Police Patel Laxmikant Kolhe and Lokesh Rane were also present during the action.
Food Safety Checks Continue in Gondia
The inspections highlight the importance of maintaining food hygiene and complying with registration, record-keeping and quality requirements at dairy and food establishments.
Consumers generally rely on milk and dairy products such as paneer, curd, cream and mawa as part of their daily diet.
