A. Sai Manohar is a 1995-batch retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Madhya Pradesh cadre. He was recently appointed as an advisor to Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav.
Manohar retired from the Madhya Pradesh Police on August 31, 2026, while serving as ADG Intelligence. He has had a career spanning nearly three decades and has held several important positions during his service.
His previous assignments include serving as SSP of Indore, IG of Bhopal Range, Joint Director in the CBI and ADG Cyber. His long career has included responsibilities in policing, intelligence, cyber security and central investigation.
Given this service record, referring to him as an IAS officer is factually incorrect. A. Sai Manohar belongs to the Indian Police Service (IPS), not the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).
The issue has attracted attention because the designation was not corrected after the initial report and was allegedly repeated in the subsequent follow-up. For a senior government official, details such as service, cadre and designation are basic facts that generally require careful verification before publication.
