Bhandara/Nagpur: A major loan fraud investigation involving an alleged ₹73.82 crore agricultural loan racket has brought a resident of Bhandara’s Mohadi tehsil under the scanner. Nagpur Rural Police’s Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has arrested Sachin Karemore, a resident of Neri, in connection with the case.
The investigation has raised concerns over the alleged use of farmers’ personal and land documents to obtain large agricultural loans. According to police, the case is part of a wider network whose activities are being investigated across multiple locations.
Farmers’ Documents Allegedly Used for Loans
Investigators allege that some farmers were approached with promises of financial assistance. During these interactions, documents such as Aadhaar cards, PAN cards and 7/12 land records were reportedly collected.
Police suspect that these documents were later used in loan-related paperwork. Some farmers allegedly told investigators that they were unaware that substantial loans had been processed using their details.
The alleged misuse of farmers’ documents has become one of the key areas of the ongoing investigation.
How Much Money Is Involved?
The total amount under investigation is reported to be around ₹73.82 crore.
According to the reported police investigation, approximately ₹54.69 crore was linked to transactions through the Mouda branch, while another ₹19.13 crore was connected with the Ramtek branch.
Investigators are now examining the complete money trail to determine how the funds were obtained, transferred and ultimately used.
Warehouse Records Also Being Examined
The investigation reportedly includes allegations involving warehouse documentation and electronic Negotiable Warehouse Receipts, commonly known as e-NWRs.
According to the prosecution's case recorded by the Bombay High Court, investigators suspect that certain documents and warehouse-related records were used to support the disputed agricultural loan transactions.
The exact role of each individual and entity involved is still being investigated.
Sachin Karemore Arrested
Police reportedly located Karemore in the Nagpur Railway Station area and arrested him during the investigation.
His arrest is significant because investigators are attempting to establish the alleged network behind the transactions and identify the roles played by other suspected individuals.
Reports indicate that 16 cases have been registered at Mouda and Ramtek police stations in connection with the broader investigation.
High Court Had Earlier Rejected Bail Plea
The matter had also come before the Bombay High Court’s Nagpur Bench. In an order dated August 14, 2026, the court rejected Karemore’s anticipatory bail application while considering the prosecution’s submissions regarding the investigation.
The court record refers to allegations concerning forged documents, e-NWRs and agricultural loan transactions. The investigation was still continuing at that stage.

With the arrest, investigators are expected to focus on the alleged financial trail, the origin of the documents, warehouse records and the involvement of other suspects.
A key question for investigators will be whether the farmers whose documents were allegedly used were aware of the loans and how the money moved after the loans were sanctioned.
For Bhandara, the case has attracted attention because of the reported connection to Neri in Mohadi tehsil.
