<a href="/category/bhandara" class="text-brand font-semibold hover:underline">Bhandara</a>: A tragic incident occurred on Monday evening when a 47-year-old woman shepherd was struck by lightning while she had gone into the forest to graze cattle. She died on the spot.
The deceased has been identified as Uttara Uttam Ther (47), a resident of Marhegaon (New) in Lakhani taluka.
According to information, cattle herders from Marhegaon had gone to the nearby Rajuli (Deori/Gondi) forest area as usual to graze their cattle. Uttara Ther had also taken her cattle into the forest after Monday afternoon.
Meanwhile, the weather suddenly changed, accompanied by loud thunder and lightning. Soon after, heavy rain began and lightning struck Uttara Ther. She suffered a severe electric shock and collapsed at the spot.
The other cattle herders accompanying her immediately rushed to help and attempted to provide first aid. However, she had already died at the scene.
She was subsequently taken to the Rural Hospital in Palandur for confirmation. After medical examination, doctors declared her dead.
The incident has left the local community in shock and mourning.
