Bhandara, Maharashtra: The police investigation into the alleged attempted sexual assault of a three-year-old girl at an anganwadi in Ambedkar Ward, Bhandara, has been completed. Police are expected to file the chargesheet in court soon, and the case is likely to be heard through a fast-track court process.
The incident reportedly took place on August 6, when a 30-year-old man from Ambedkar Ward was accused of attempting to sexually assault the three-year-old girl at an anganwadi. The incident triggered widespread anger across Bhandara, with residents and various social organisations demanding strict punishment for the accused.
Following the incident, the accused reportedly injured himself by hitting himself with a stone. Considering the situation and concerns over law and order, he was taken to a government hospital in Nagpur for medical treatment.
The case was also reviewed at the senior police level. Special Inspector General of Police Sandeep Patil reportedly directed the investigating team to complete the probe within eight days, given the seriousness and sensitivity of the case.
After completing his treatment, the accused was taken into police custody. Investigators questioned him and recorded his statement as part of the legal process.
According to information from officials associated with the investigation, the technical and documentary aspects of the case have now been completed. Police are preparing to submit the chargesheet before the court. Authorities are also seeking a fast-track hearing so that the minor victim can receive justice without unnecessary delay.

Given the sensitive nature of the case, investigators took additional precautions while documenting evidence. Officials and employees from different government departments were reportedly included as panch witnesses during various stages of the investigation.

With the investigation now complete, the next major step will be the filing of the chargesheet before the court. The subsequent legal proceedings will determine the allegations against the accused based on the evidence presented by the prosecution.
